Ways We're Getting Our Home Ready to Sell

The small updates you make to your home today can become the very things that make the next owner fall in love with it.

Disclaimer: we are not actually selling anytime soon — but eventually, we want the next owner to love what they’re walking into. Because of that, we’re thoughtfully making updates to our home this summer that not only work better for us now, but will also add value later on.

One thing I always think about with a home is that the updates you invest in today will eventually benefit you when it comes time to sell. We want our home to feel functional, cohesive, and well cared for — both for us and whoever owns it next.

Redoing Our Primary Shower/Tub Combo

We are converting our current shower/tub combo into a walk-in shower with a sliding glass door and dual shower heads (a handheld + fixed option). It’ll make the space feel much more updated, functional, and spa-like. Older homes in the area typically lack a primary suite with a connected bathroom, so we want to make ours feel as nice as possible!

Replacing the Flooring in Our Main Guest Bathroom

This flooring may very well be original, and it definitely needs a refresh. This bathroom gets used constantly by both guests and us day-to-day, so we want it to feel clean, crisp, and inviting. We’re replacing the beige flooring with a fun mid-century modern pattern that ties in elements from our rug and kitchen design.

Adding a Backsplash + Sidesplash to the “Kid” Bathroom

This vanity originally didn’t have a backsplash installed, which means water can easily get down into the cracks over time. Since we’ve started using this bathroom more, we wanted to both protect the space and make it feel more finished visually. We’re adding a vertical tile backsplash that adds texture while also helping prevent water damage.

Replacing Bathroom Lights + Fans

We’re swapping out the lighting to better match the black hardware throughout the bathrooms so everything feels more cohesive. We’re also replacing the older fans with humidity-sensing versions that automatically turn on when moisture is detected — a small update that makes a big difference in functionality.

If you’re considering updates in your own home or have questions about projects you’ve been thinking about tackling, I’d love to help be a sounding board however I can.
