Big changes are happening at the Idaho Botanical Garden—and we’re excited to see what’s growing! 🌿

[ WATCH THE GARDEN UPDATE ]

If you haven’t been to the Idaho Botanical Garden lately, there’s a lot of exciting change happening behind the scenes!

The Idaho Botanical Garden is in the middle of a major 10-acre expansion, growing the Garden from 15 to 25 acres and creating even more space for our community to gather, learn, and enjoy the outdoors. And now, we’re starting to see some of that vision come to life.

A New Space for the Community

The first completed areas of the expansion are opening to the public August 29, including a new Event Lawn, the Parking Garden, and the expanded Borbonus Family Educational Arboretum. The new Event Lawn will give the Garden another place to host concerts, celebrations, educational programs, and community events.

But this is just the beginning.

The bigger vision includes a permanent home for the Boise Farmers Market, a Therapeutic Garden, a Culinary Garden, a Scholar Garden, expanded education spaces, and a future Visitor & Education Center.

What This Means for Boise

We love seeing projects like this that aren't just about adding more space—they're about creating more ways for our community to connect.

The future Therapeutic Garden will provide a dedicated space for horticulture therapy and is being designed with accessibility, sensory experiences, and restorative spaces in mind. The Garden's horticulture therapy program is focused on using nature to support mental wellness, physical health, and social connection.

And having a permanent home for the Boise Farmers Market at the Garden could be a huge addition for local farmers, makers, families, and anyone who loves shopping local. The Garden and Boise Farmers Market have already begun working together through their Rooted Together event series, building toward that future partnership.

We're Excited to See What's Next

It’s pretty exciting to watch this project take shape right here in Boise. What started as a vision for expanding the Garden is becoming a place with more room for community events, education, local food, wellness, conservation, and simply enjoying nature together.

And with the first new spaces opening this month, we’re finally getting a glimpse of what’s to come!

We’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this project—and we can’t wait to see the Garden’s next chapter unfold.
