Western Idaho Fair Is Here!

It’s one of those Boise traditions that lets you know summer is coming to an end—the Western Idaho Fair is back! From August 21–30, Expo Idaho will be filled with carnival rides, live music, games, animals, and, of course, all the fair food we look forward to every year.

Whether you’re bringing the kids, meeting up with friends, or just looking for something fun to do on a summer evening, the fair is always a good excuse to get out and enjoy the last few weeks of summer.

Plenty to See and Do

There’s a little bit of everything at the Western Idaho Fair. Kids can visit the petting zoo, get up close with the animals, and take a spin on the carnival rides. And if you’re looking for a little more excitement, don’t miss the big slide!

The fair also has a full calendar of special events throughout the week. There are activities for kids, animal shows, competitions, entertainment, and special themed days. $2 Tuesday on August 25 is a great option if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly day at the fair.

Before you head out, it’s worth taking a look at the schedule so you can plan around some of the events you don’t want to miss.

Live Music at the Fair

The fair isn’t just about rides and food. There’s also a great lineup of concerts happening throughout the week. This year’s Grandstand lineup includes Brantley Gilbert, Skillet, Third Eye Blind, The Art of Rap featuring Ice-T, Sir Mix-A-Lot and DJ Evil E, and Lee Brice.

So if you’re more interested in live music than carnival rides, you can still make a night of it at the fair.

And Then There’s the Food…

There are plenty of local favorites and classic fair treats to choose from, but a few of our must-haves are Pronto Pups, Idaho Ice Cream Potatoes, funnel cakes, and elephant ears.

There’s just something about eating fair food while walking around the carnival that makes it taste even better. And yes, we fully support getting dessert before dinner when you’re at the fair!

Make a Night of It

The Western Idaho Fair is one of those summer traditions that has something for just about everyone. Ride the rides, visit the animals, catch a concert, play a few games, and grab your favorite fair food before heading home.
